Employment Services in Vocational Recovery and First – Early Intervention (Community Mental Health) Teams
Our Employment Advisors work within the Community Mental Health and the Early Intervention Teams to provide an Individual Placement and Support (IPS) service.
This is a specialist service model, which has produced great results in helping people with mental ill health to find and stay in work.
Our Employment Advisor will work with you to:
- Learn about your goals, aspirations and preferences
- Provide information about how IPS works
- Develop an action plan together and begin to look for regular jobs in the community
- Provide you with support, coaching, resume development, interview training, and on-the-job support as required
Our Employment Advisors are also trained to do job development, building relationships with employers in businesses that have jobs that match your employment preferences.
In IPS you decide whether or not employers and potential employers should know about your mental ill health, and whether or not the Employment Advisor talks to an employer on your behalf.
You also decide which jobs to apply for and how many hours you want to work. The decision about how much to work is often influenced by a desire to transition to a working life, whilst minimising the risk of being both out of work and without disability benefits.
Our Employment Advisors will also ensure that you have access to benefits advice and counselling, so that you can make informed decisions in this area.
Where:
We are based at The Claybrook Centre, 37 Claybrook Road, London, W6 8LN but will meet you in the community in places that suit you like the local library or coffee shop.
When:
Usually, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm by appointment but we can arrange to meet you outside of these hours if you need us to – if you?ve just started a new job and need to meet after work for example.
